Trenchard cup final 2008 at Axminster
Ottery St Mary Under 14s 5 Exmouth Under 14s 1
Following Ottery’s defeat to Exmouth in a cup final last season, the otters were determined to prove themselves this year. Both teams started strong but Ottery’s excellent teamwork and persistence paid off within 20 minutes with Jake Allen scoring his first of two goals, Exmouth stepped up the pressure and equalised within ten minutes. Following some fantastic football from both sides the Otters second goal came just before half time. The second half continued at a high tempo, both teams worked very hard but Ottery continued to dominate and were rewarded with a further three goals from Nick Roberts, Ash Baker and Carlton Parker. Man of the match went to Ash Baker who excelled throughout. Ottery have not won this cup since 1990 so well done lads, you did us all proud!

Axminster 0 Ottery St Mary 5 Report: Mike Dawe The Otters stay on top of the league with another impressive performance away to Axminster. Despite losing three key players to Exeter Youth and Devon elite teams the squad retained their high standard of play. The excellent Alix Ross scored four of the goals, the fifth from substitute Carlton Parker. With each game that the Otters play they are growing from strength to strength in all areas, congratulations lads and keep up the good work. Man of the match went to Haydn Banfield who played brilliantly at the back. The Otters are away again to Axminster in the cup next week.
Report: Mike Dawe Ottery St mary 9 Cullompton 0 The Otters
continued where they left off last week, with a fine performance against
Cullompton. The first goal converted by Ash Baker in the first minute, the
quickest goal the Otters have ever scored. The avalanche then started with goals
from Sam Baker the first a brave header at the far post and the second
after rebound from Cullomptons keeper. With confidence growing and spirits high
more goals soon followed, Ash scoring from a 25 yard shot over the top of the
stranded keeper, Alix Ross coming on as a substitute soon got into the action
and scored 2 goals in two minutes and Ash completing his hatrick just before
half time. The second half was again dominated by the Otters but
they were unable to convert many chances due to the committment and
determination of the Cullompton players, two additional goals were scored by
Matt Reed and Alix completing his hatrick. Man of the match was Dave Richard
who unselfishly dominated at the back.
Report: Mike Dawe Pinhoe 0 Ottery St Mary 5 The Otters went into today’s game with extreme confidence following the win against league leaders Exmouth last week. The game was played at a high tempo, the Otters playing with determination, good teamwork and determination. Following an avalanche of attacks and shots on goal the Otters were rewarded with a goal by Jake Allen (Man of the Match) following a good move down the left wing and an excellent executed through ball by Tom Bennett. Tom then converted the second goal from close range when Pinhoe failed to clear. Although Pinhoe worked hard and never gave up trying, the Otters were too strong and Jake following a good solo run scored his second and the Otters third. The second half was similar to the first with the Otters in control with goals again from Tom and Jake. Throughout the game the Otters keeper (Will Cowley) had very little to do, credit to the Otters centre backs Sam Baker and Dave Richards who showed great leadership as the team captain, both dominating from the back throughout.

Report Mike Dawe
Ottery 2 V Lyme Regis 0 The Otters first game of the season got off to an excellent start following two superb goals for the Otters striker Alix Ross. The first coming from a break down the middle with a perfect pass from Sam Baker through the middle of Lyme’s centre backs, Alix with speed and determination skipped pass the keeper and stroked the ball in the back of the net. The second came early in the second half following excellent ball work from the Otters to find Alex on the edge of the area again beating the keeper to slot the ball in the net. Most of the play was in the Lyme’s half with the Otters having most of the possession through the 70 minutes against a nine man Lyme side, if it were not for the Lyme’s goal keeping the score could have been embarrassing. Well done to all the squad, who played with composure, determination and confidence throughout, and most of all played as a team. Man of the match went to Ben Dawe who linked up brilliantly with Nick Roberts and Jake Allen on the right side. Well done Ben.
